Our new trustee, Philippa Nunn, brings extensive experience in education leadership across Richmond. She was headteacher for 13 years, of two outstanding schools, latterly Waldegrave School in Twickenham. She also served as Executive Headteacher and CEO a local school trust between 2018 and 2022. A former Ofsted inspector, she was awarded an OBE for services to education in 2019.
Here, she shares what she hopes to bring to the Hampton Fund and why she is passionate about the borough of Richmond.
Why did you want to be a trustee for the Hampton Fund?
I’ve lived in the area for over 20 years and loved working in and for schools locally. Since I retired, I’ve missed doing something positive for the community and I see this as an exciting opportunity.
What do you think you can offer as a trustee for the Hampton Fund?
My knowledge of the local area, my experience working with schools, and my ability to work collaboratively in a team.
Why do you think the work that the Hampton Fund does is important?
It provides resources and support that help people in the community have the opportunity to thrive.
What would you like to achieve in your time as a trustee for the Hampton Fund?
Helping the Hampton Fund set clear goals and deliver them over the next five years.
In your education roles, how did you see financial, physical and emotional hardship affect people’s lives?
Ensuring students are happy at school is the most important part of being a school leader. When a family or student is facing hardship, it affects their wellbeing and has an impact on every aspect of school life.
What do you love most about the borough of Richmond?
I love the outdoor life and activities that are possible while still being so close to the cultural richness of London.
Tell us three interesting facts about yourself.
I play real tennis. I’ve met James Corden. And I’ve walked the Coast to Coast route across England.
